Kangra is one of the
most beautiful and charming valleys in the
Himalayas. Dharamsala, the headquarters of the
Kangra District, is located at the foot of the
majestic Dhauladhar Range – The White Ranges. The
town consists of Lower and Upper Dharamsala. Upper
Dharamsala is where His Holiness, the Dalai Lama,
resides. Kangra Valley is also famous for its
historic temples, the most popular being the one
dedicated to the goddess Varjeswari.
Offering one of the most panoramic views in Himachal
Pradesh, Kangra is replete with history and is home
to the famous Kangra School of paintings. A lesser
know fact is that probably the world’s – most
certainly India’s oldest ruling lineage also comes
from Kangra. Pragpur, with its small population, is
located at an elevation of about 1,800 feet in the
Kangra Valley.
Reflecting the ambience of the Anglo-Indian
traditions, this country manor was built by Justice
Sir Jai Lal at the turn of the century. Spread over
10 acres of orchards, the hotel offers a magnificent
view of snow –capped mountain peaks. Located near
the ornamental village tank, and approached by a
cobbled street, this courtyard haven captures the
mood of its original bygone era. Pragpur is also the
