Nalagarh is the gateway to Himachal Pradesh in North India, 300 kms north of Delhi and 60 kms from Chandigarh. Offering a panoramic view of the Shivalik Hills, beyond the Sirsa river, the famous Naina Devi Temple is 60 kms from the Fort and is visible from the ramparts on a clear day. The 16th century Ramgarh Fort, only 21 kms from Nalagarh, is well worth a visit. Besides varied recreation activities, an ayurvedic health center is an interesting new facility.

An excellent excursion from Nalagarh is the impressive Ramgarh Fort. Built by Raja Ram Chander in 1540, the Fort is situated at a height of 4,000 feet. Located 21 kms north of Nalagarh, the Fort ramparts command a breathtaking view of the plains and towns of Punjab, and the perennially snowcapped peaks of the Himalayas.

Fort-Nalagarh was built in 1421 during the reign of Raja Bikram Chand. It was ruled by the Chandela Rajputs who originated from Chanderi in the Bundelkhand region of Central India. The fort is located on a hillock at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, surrounded by endless acres of greenery. Replete with all modern amenities, the Fort – Nalagarh is an ideal retreat away from the madding crowed.
